The Champions

The Champions starts by asking players to choose their allegiance from a roster of 32 different countries that participate in the world’s biggest tournaments. In-game, key symbols like the players’ jerseys, referee’s whistle, and goalkeeper’s gloves will then change to reflect the colors of the chosen international team. The special bonus symbol, too, will take on the appearance of that country’s flag.

From here, the player’s personalized journey on the pitch begins. In addition to standard line pays, The Champions tasks players with scoring as many goals as possible for their favorite team. Each spin, they select one position on any reel as their chosen target, and if a football symbol lands in that position, the ball lands in the back of the opposing team’s net! After the goal, any further wins from the ten spins that follow have a 2x multiplier, then any further goals scored in those ten spins will increase the multiplier by 2x (up to a maximum of 20x) and the pool of ten spins will re-fill, meaning the winning streak can be sustained indefinitely with enough luck.

When three or more bonus symbols appear, the referee calls for five penalties. To score, players select one of four corners of the goal, hoping to predict which way the goalkeeper will dive. Successfully scoring one penalty awards a payout of 5x total bet, while scoring all five raises the stakes dramatically to 100x.

Like some of history’s most famous matches, the crowd plays a big part in the atmosphere of The Champions. As goal streaks mount, the chanting reaches fever pitch, and as players step up to the penalty spot for a decisive kick, a dynamic soundtrack adds a unique layer to the on-screen action.

Designed for long play sessions, and to encourage players to identify with their favorite team, The Champions™ is not tied to any particular footballing event. So beyond this summer’s big spectacles, players will want to return to the action again and again – and the game itself can be easily updated for future seasons.
